Easy, Kid-Friendly Hikes in Boise

on

The boys and I love a good hike, and we often head out at the last minute on an adventure. We know the spots we like, and that makes it easy for me to persuade them, and for me to quickly plan around it. I can guess how long it will take and what we’ll need. My backpack is always ready to go, and most of the hikes we do are within 20 minutes drive of our house.

Recently, a couple of mom friends have asked about where they should take their kids, especially if they’re looking to go hiking for the first time. While there are a lot of easy, short options in Boise, there’s not much available online when you search for ideas, and that led me to suggest this guest post to Boise Trails. I love their website – I use it mostly when I’m biking, but it’s also great to check out the trail descriptions if I’m looking to try a new hike with the boys. And I really enjoy the interactive map feature, and use it frequently when I’m unsure of the route.  I can check it as we’re walking, and show the boys where we are (and importantly, how far there is to go!)

If you are looking to start hiking with the kids but are unsure if they will handle it, or if you want to get out of your comfort zone and try something new with the kids, check out my guest post for Boise Trails. And if you have any other easy hikes you like to go on with your kids in Boise, please let me know!
