We recently visited part of the Oregon Trail, which included a visitor area with informational boards. It was surrounded by these large blocks of rock with a prominent ‘no climbing’ sign.
Red: Mom, don’t let Smalls climb it, look at the sign.
Me: I think it’ll be okay, it looks fun to climb, doesn’t it?
Red: almost like it was made for it.
Me: right. You go ahead, if you want.
Red: you mean, you can just decide to break the rules if you’re an adult? You won’t get caught? How do you know which ones to break?
Me: if I ever figure it out, I’ll tell you.
