It’s a cold day. It’s day 4 of my husband being away. The kids have been sick. But the snow is calling!
I pack the car the night before, determined not to waste my intention. We drive in caravan with all the other hopefuls, cresting the corners to be met by the blinding sun as it rises to greet us. Good morning, come ski, it’s glorious up here!
I pack a toddler on my front, a backpack behind, skis and poles balanced precariously in my arms, and sweat my way to the lodge. Drop Smalls at daycare, realize we left Red’s ski boots behind, back to the car, boots on, make the trek again. Drop Red at ski school, an interminable line of moaning kids, questions about allergies, checking for missing gloves.
And then it’s just me. I’m free. For 2 blissful hours it’s me and the mountain. Love you Bogus Basin!
